Photo of the Day: Man on Stilts, Photo of Street Performer in Barcelona, Spain
Monday, July 30th, 2007Advice to beginning photographers looking for subjects: the truth is that if you walk around for a few hours in any public place, you’ll eventually stumble on somebody’s personal show.
I was actually finished with my photo-taking for the day, fiddling with my camera and thinking about a sandwich and coffee, when suddenly I realized that the man in front of me was ten feet tall.
POTD: Hôtel Cerbères, Urban Landscape Photo of Architecture (France and Spain)
Sunday, July 29th, 2007Cerbères, the border town between Spain and France. With a fat layover between RENFE and SNCF, I strolled around and took some photos. Amazingly, I was able to see the entire town in fifteen minutes. My recommendation to you: don’t go to Cerbères for your vacation. But if you do go, don’t stay in this hotel. Unless you are some kind of fugitive with bodies to dispose of, in which case this fine hideout is conveniently situated between the seaside and the train tracks, and frightening enough to keep anyone but docile junkies spooked away.
POTD: Sophie à la lecture
Saturday, July 28th, 2007Sophie reading a book after breakfast. Somehow she still hadn’t lost the puffy heart sticker on her cheek from the previous night out in the pubs.
On vacation from Barcelona, I traveled to Paris to take photos. On the way I stopped in Lyon, France.
I was staying in a one-room studio with three French girls, and after the first day they mostly ignored the camera and went about their daily business. Guys, have you ever wondered what girls do when we’re not around? Well, pretty much what we do. They just look better doing it.
Why no photo of the day?
Wednesday, July 25th, 2007The past few days Barcelona has been suffering major power outages all around the city. We went 36 hours without electricity, but now it appears that we have some kind of giant generators here on our street keeping things going. That didn’t, however, prevent the power from going out several times today.
I’ll be posting again regularly when things get back to normal around here.
